Look Closer

“Those little things that you alone see, aren’t by chance. The sign, the squirrel, the dragonfly; the whisper, the song, the lily. It’s me. I’m always with you. I’ll do anything to reach you–to give you hope, keep you on track, answer your questions. Look even closer.” The Universe

Illumined Ways with Sharon Fallon Shrive

As I read and work on the puzzle pieces of my life, I’m thankful I have these little bits of wisdom to share.

Life is an open book,

A page turned every day,

We alone determine

What the story is to say.

Some are tales of triumph,

Others wrought wit woe,

All have the same beginning–

The end we do not know.

Be the novel great or small,

The paper is the same.

Its content is the measure

Not the cover or the name.

Choose your message wisely,

Seek justice over wealth;

A classic for the ages–

Not dust upon the shelf.

When comes the final chapter,

And the pen is laid to rest,

May God in final judgement say–

We tried to write our best.

Good Night

Prayer Before Sleep

Dear God, as I lay me down to sleep, relax the tension of my body;

calm the restlessness of my mind;

still the thoughts which worry and perplex me.

Help me to rest myself and all my problems in your strong and loving arms.

Let your Spirit speak to my mind and heart

while I am asleep, so that, when I wake up in the morning,

I may find that I have received in the night-time,

     light for my way;

     strength for my tasks;

     peace for my worries;

     forgiveness for my sins.

Grant me sleep tonight, and tomorrow power to live. Amen

From God’s Spoken Word Ministries

I found this prayer years ago and lost it in my notes.

Today it resurfaced. I am so thankful and happy I’m able to share it with you.

Sweet dreams, my friends.

May God bless us all.

The Gift

The gift of encouragement

Should be given each day—

Pass it out freely

And in gentle ways.

There’s no need for ribbons

To make it look grand—

Just the simple encouragement

Of a kind, helping hand.

~Joan Stephen, Bedtime Prayers

As this busy season flies by, please take a moment to be kind.

It costs us nothing and it takes very little additional time.

And if you’re feeling up to it and ready for a more advanced challenge–think about this–

“Being kind to the unkind is a higher art of kindness”

Vineet Raj Kapoor
